Anchovies has built a reputation as a cornerstone of Boston’s South End. Since opening, we’ve served locals for over a decade, blending Italian-inspired cuisine with a modern, trendy vibe. Our menu features hearty dishes like chicken parmigiana, linguine with mussels, and our famous stuffed peppers—each prepared authentically to the tune of classic Italian flavors. Our bar stands out with an impressive beer list, including local brews and international favorites.

Our cocktails, especially martinis, draw praise for their quality and strength, making us a go-to destination for solo diners and groups alike. The energy at Anchovies fluctuates with peak times hitting Friday nights at 11 PM, but we’re inviting any time you seek a reliable, lively neighborhood spot. Our staff, including veteran servers like Peter, go out of their way to create a welcoming environment.

Whether you're here to unwind with friends, enjoy a quick meal, or celebrate a local event, Anchovies remains a staple for community connection, exceptional food, and unbeatable drinks in Boston’s South End.

Stopped in at Anchovies for a drink after work on Wednesday. Cool little divey local haunt. A/C kept the place nice and cool. Got a mixed drink for $12. A fair amount of seating considering the relatively small size of the bar. Hanging Tiffany lamps. Would come back again.

After 15 hours on a train and getting in late to our hotel, we were looking for a place to get some food and drink, when we came across Anchovies. What a cool place when we walked in it was busy but the server and bartender booted us right away and got a seated. They were extremely helpful and explained some items to us and we had a fantastic dinner! The drinks were absolutely phenomenal, and they were stiff!!! No small half pours here! Wow!!!! We are definitely glad we found this place and we will probably eat here again on this trip. I can’t say enough about the environment and the food and the drinks and our server Peter was as good as they come! Would definitely recommend!!!!

We got here late on a Friday night and it was kind of what I expected when it came to the food and size of the place, but it was extremely loud and raucous. We had to wait outside for about 30 minutes before we were let inside. We grabbed a table immediately and were told to order food and drinks at the bar. At first, I wasn't a big fan of that because the bar was packed and it was tough to squeeze in. But the bartender was very responsive in taking my order and knowing what table we were sitting at. I was very impressed by his service. Our food came out quick and everything was great. Although, bread or garlic bread would have been a nice addition to the linguini with clams to help soak up all of the sauce. I'll definitely return if I'm in the are again. But next time I'll try to get there a little earlier to avoid the late night club music and atmosphere.

Great dive bar that feels so homey. Perfect mix of reasonably priced drinks, quality appetizers, tasty food, friendly staff, and not too much seating to where it almost feels exclusive. Definitely a gem of South End. 10/10 would recommend!

Super delicious bar food! The calamari was soft, the truffle fries were truffle-y and not soggy, and the Italian nachos were seasoned well. I was pleasantly surprised - will come back!

This place and my server Pete are both 10/10!! Super busy on a wednesday night, I was lucky a table got up right as I was walking in. Pete sat me immediately and took great care of me even though he had at least 8 tables from what I could see! I got the fried ravioli and truffle fries. Will 100% return at my next visit!
